ADVANCED DESIGN TECHNOLOGY
Advanced Design Technology class spent the day at Fitchburg State College participating in the 1st annual Pick and Place contest put on by the engineering department at the college. The challenge was to design and build a machine that would pick up a coffee can and rotate it 45 degrees and place the can on a target. The students designed a robotic arm out of recycled parts including bicycle gears and chains, a rewired electric hand drill, a magnet, motors, switches, relays and transformers and many other odd and ends. The ingenuity of the students earned them 2nd place in this competition. The following Advanced Design Technology students participated in this project:
