French Honor Society-Requirements

• Students must be enrolled in the 10th, 11th or 12th grade of high school
• Students must be enrolled in a 3rd semester of French
• Students must have maintained an A- average or better in French throughout the years of its study in secondary school
• Students must pass a brief oral test, in French, in order to demonstrate their speaking and comprehension skills
• Students must demonstrate behavior appropriate to an honor society
• Students MUST attend the induction ceremony, which has been changed to November, at King Philip High School

National French Contest

This is a national exam that tests students' knowledge of the French Language and culture at the level they are currently at. This very challenging test, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French, is administered at King Philip High School in the spring of every academic year.

National French Week

An annual celebration at K.P. taking place during the first week of November. Week full of fun and meaningful activities relating to the French language and culture.

French Club

• Bi-Monthly meetings (Tuesday after school)
• Open to all French students

Program at the Pond Retirement Home

French Club teaches French to the senior residence at the home, as an after-school activity, six times a year.

French Fundraiser

Sponsored by the French Club. The goal is to raise money for:

• Activities of the National French Week
• French National Honor Society
• French scholorship awarded every year to a graduating senior who has excelled in the study of French
