Statement of Philosophy
The Language Arts and Reading Department believes that:
- reading, writing, listening, and speaking are essential skills students need to become productive and successful citizens in an increasingly complex world
- it is in the best interest of all students to master these skills
- various methods of instruction should be utilized to accommodate learning styles and individual needs so that all students may have the opportunity to achieve their academic potential
Language Arts instruction not only encompasses the acquisition of the aforementioned skills, but also embraces classroom experiences which nurture and cultivate a love of literature and language. |
