Welcome to Seventh Grade Language Arts

I am very excited to be teaching seventh grade English/Language Arts this year. I have been teaching at King Philip Middle School since September 2003. I earned a BS from Rhode Island College in 1994 and Masters’ Degrees from both Fitchburg State College (2000) and Rhode Island College (2004). I currently hold Professional licenses in Elementary Education, Special Needs PreK-9, and Middle School Humanities 5-8.

It is my belief that a learning environment requires a student to feel confident. When a student speaks, he or she will have the opportunity to be heard. As a community of learners, we must be open to differing observations and opinions. I look forward to getting to know each student and fostering the belief that through sustained effort, he or she will grow and develop via participation in the writing process and in continued exposure to rich literature.

Most recently, educators and students have embarked on a journey to increase student engagement while embracing the newness of remote learning.  We have all learned so much!  I continue to work and collaborate with professionals to bring forth exciting and rigorous lessons to engage students.  To that end, you will be several badges that address some of the digital learning we will integrate into lessons, this year and beyond!  As a community, we will persevere, learn, and grow- together!
