King Philip Regional High School DECA Members Qualify for International Career Development Conference

WRENTHAM — Superintendent Paul Zinni, King Philip DECA Advisor James Dow and DECA Vice President of Marketing Brooke Noonan are pleased to share that numerous King Philip DECA members qualified for the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) at this year’s State Career Development Conference (SCDC).

A group of 99 King Philip DECA members attended SCDC March 9-11 in Boston. The DECA members joined over 3,000 students, advisors and business professionals at the conference and competed in over 50 categories of marketing, hospitality, finance and entrepreneurship.

King Philip DECA was recognized for having three State Design Contests winners, achieving Excel level for state campaigns, silver level for the Chapter of Excellence, Thrive level (highest honor) for DECA Inc. campaigns and School-based Enterprise (SBE) gold certification.

In addition to these accomplishments, 56 King Philip DECA members qualified for ICDC in Orlando, Florida this April. The chapter has 27 projects moving on to ICDC and eight additional projects were state finalists.

In total, King Philip DECA will send 57% of SCDC projects to ICDC, with the Massachusetts state average being 15% of members moving from SCDC to ICDC.

At ICDC, students will compete against over 200,000 DECA members from 50 states, four U.S. territories, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Korea and more.

“I’m incredibly proud of our students’ hard work and dedication,” Dow said. “Everyone did an exemplary job at State. Their efforts have paid off as we prepare to attend the International Career Development Conference in April.”

At SCDC, junior Trinjan Kaur was reelected to Massachusetts DECA’s State Action Team 65 for the 2023-2024 school year and junior Luke Reagan received an award for earning a top test score in his category.
