[Update] Important Message from Paul Zinni Superintendent of KPRSD

Dear King Philip Regional School Community Members,

Following our previous announcement earlier this morning, we would like to provide an update on our investigation into rumors that were circulating on Snapchat and TikTok about potential threats of violence made towards multiple schools within the Tri-Towns, including our middle school.

As a result of our collaborative investigation alongside our local police departments, school resource officer and detectives, we have identified the student who is responsible for allegedly starting these rumors online.

The student will face disciplinary actions in accordance with the school district’s policies and procedures. Because the student is a juvenile, the student’s identity and age will not be released. This incident remains under investigation by local police.

At this time, we are confident in saying that there is no credible threat to our school community as a result of the posts. However, out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at our schools through the remainder of the week to help ensure a safe and secure school environment.

We are relieved that this situation has been brought to a safe and swift conclusion. We would like to thank the police departments for their assistance in investigating these social media posts and their subsequent increased early-morning presence at our schools this morning. We also thank all those who assisted us in our investigation and came forward with information.

We would also like to reiterate that this type of behavior can have serious impacts and I strongly urge parents and guardians to talk with their children about the consequences of such actions.

Sincerely,

Paul A. Zinni

Superintendent of Schools
