Getting My License

Some KP students are eager to pursue their licenses as soon as possible. What an exciting milestone! Regardless of which KP town you live in, Milford RMV is the closest. For example, Plainville is 16 miles from the Milford RMV and 19 miles from the Taunton RMV.

To support a variety of learning styles, students can learn the rules of the road by studying the driver’s manual, taking online practice tests, and/or taking a Driver’s Education course. KPHS also has a limited number of DVDs which offer interactive, animated methods of teaching some of the content required to pass the permit test. Please ask your student’s liaison for more information.

If you have a cognitive or physical disability that would prevent you from taking a standard learner’s permit exam on a computer, you may request an alternative extended time, paper, or oral exam. To request an extended time or paper exam, you must speak to the service center manager when you visit the service center.

To request an oral exam (available in English only), you must schedule in advance. First, call (857) 368-8105 and leave a message that includes your name, your telephone number, the specifics of your request, and the RMV Service Center where you would like to take your oral exam. You will then be contacted by an RMV employee who will help you schedule an exam. Once scheduled, be sure to bring your IEP or other verification of your disability. Click here for more info.

Driving Evaluations

Sometimes students and/or parents are uncertain about whether or not it is safe for the student to drive. To help students feel more confident in making decisions about whether driving is right for them, a driving evaluation may be helpful. Driving evaluations help to determine whether processing speed, reaction time, anxiety, or other concern may impact the safety of the driver and others.
